What spurred this idea … a conversation with the Chief Procurement Officer of a $100 billion corporation. He said:

Consulting firms have evolved together and consultants have worked for multiple big firms, resulting in tremendous similarity across methods, culture, experience, and ideas. Ultimately what [company] looks for is the cost of services and experience to drive success.
